Two years since the release of Kendrick Lamar‘s debut album good kid, m.A.A.d city, he is back and ready to drop some fire. Starting with some electrifying cheering for K.Dot, the beat shifts to a vibrant beat composed of various percussion. His vocals are soft but crisp allowing his track to develop as an hymn without being overwhelmingly aggressive. The track is reminiscent of the 70s and 80s. It samples “Who’s that Lady” by The Isley Brothers. “i” ends triumphantly with powerful horns, Kendrick’s compelling lyricism and a beautiful jazzy breakdown.
