You may be unfamiliar with Jon Bellion’s music, but we can assure you, you’re not unfamiliar with his lyrics — you may just not know it. Bellion has written for the likes of Rihanna and Jason Derulo, but the 23 year-old New Yorker is talented enough in his own right, and he’s proven that once again with his latest album, The Definition.
The 11-track project features sparse guests, and only one of those lays a verse (Blaque Keyz on “Pre-Occupied), allowing for a focused and uncluttered perspective. While the album tackles some dark subject matter, it does so in a playfully upbeat way, without coming off as fake or cheesy. Bellion switches between rapping and singing, crafting a cohesive and polished album that he’s giving fans for free. If you’re new to the party, you can also check out his previous two projects down below.
