While Top Dawg Entertainment’s Kendrick Lamar normally makes headlines full of positive news, today is a different story for the 27-year-old as he has found himself in hot water.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Compton emcee is being sued for an alleged uncleared sample that he went on to use for the brutal “Keisha’s Song (Her Pain),” that was featured on Lamar’s 2011 debut studio album, Section.80. Eric Woolfson of the British rock band The Alan Parsons Project, has made claims of Lamar using bits of their 1982 single “Old & Wise” without legal authorization.
The complaint notes that while Woolfson attempted to resolve the issue with Lamar’s reps back in April 2014, no settlement came out of it as the defendant was unresponsive. The plaintiff is seeking an award of compensatory damages.
