Linking up with Scion (yeah, the car company) was definitely a good look for the Pro Era bunch. One look at “Extortion,” the latest from the Brooklyn throwbacks-turned-futurists, and you can tell that the extra bucks went toward some solid direction. From the crisp cuts to the freaky digitized fill-in effect that we haven’t quite seen before, “Extortion” dazzles visually in a kind of safer, more mystical “ODB“/”Dip” kind of way. The song surprisingly isn’t overshadowed, though, as, for our money, Pro Era’s two most interesting members, spit a few cockeyed and fang-bearing verses while slaying the instantly catchy hook.
