Remember the show Arthur? Depending on your age, you may have tuned in every weekday after school. The show was good wholesome fun, but it also featured an extremely memorable and upbeat opening theme song. When you heard it you felt happy; you felt like a carefree child. You’d take your after school snack, watch the show and forget about your homework.
Chance the Rapper’s reworking of the theme gives you a slightly different feeling. While the lyrics are identical, the mood is much more somber and even morose. You feel more like you did in that awkward teenage period, staring down at a soggy bowl of cereal and contemplating the point of it all. With plenty of help from The Social Experiment, Wyclef Jean, The O’Mys and more, Chance doesn’t let the mood sit in the dumps for too long, as the song eventually uplifts into a beautiful, sweeping finale. This is a weird one, but more than worth your time. Check it out below.
