In the latest installment in Noisey’s “The People Vs.,” King Push responds calmly, wittily, and weirdly to some comments on the stellar “Numbers On The Board” video. Pusha, as he’s shown before, takes serious issue with the section of hip-hop fandom that amounts to grown men debating his hairdo, and while he notes that he’s trying to be more open-minded about that kind of attention, it clearly weirds him out. There’s a hint of homophobia to Pusha’s clairvoyant discomfort: sure, he’s making an astute point that the way rappers are watched and adored is strange, but his opinion sure changes when there are women involved. Regardless, this video is funny, and Pusha T is clearly the kind of internet-allergic, calculated and slick guy that his rhymes dictate him to be, even when he’s out of the booth.
