Dizzy Wright might be the most relatable MC in hip-hop. Not because he’s got a particularly average personality or is even very far from true stardom, but because of tracks like this. “Reunite For The Night,” off of Dizzy’s State Of MindEP, manages to reach out to the thoughtful, the wild, the stoned, the down, the nostalgic, and, most of all, anyone who wants it to be reached. And all of this is done without trying too hard, so as not to feel like some sort of manufactured appeal. Dizzy’s quiet (and less quiet) reflections on one night at a party aren’t trying to blow your mind wide open, they’re just there to soothe and expand what’s going on in brains that are both busy and bored. The man is for the people, and he’s one of the people.
