Atlas Greene has been heavily compared to Childish Gambino, but on Sweaters & Cigarettes, he proves he’s got talent and, more importantly, personality, beyond that. Atlas has Gambino’s knack for enunciation and introspection, but the urgency in his voice and writing far outweigh any whining (be that lyrical or vocal) that would link the two definitively. Greene‘s story is one of a boy fighting to be a man, and he tells it both with candor (“Bum Loosies”) and bombast (“Rellos”) his flow staying unwaveringly nimble.
