Upon arrival, Philly’s Silk City Diner doesn’t look the part of a underground hip hop venue. It looks like a diner. However, hiding behind the stainless steel counter tops and cushioned booths is an amazing hip hop bar and lounge where Philly’s own Asaad (Saudi Money) hosted his Flowers II album release party. With Matt Ford and Salomon Faye as opening acts, and DJ Stylo on the turntables, the event was a successful welcome back party for Asaad following his brief hiatus this summer. Judging by the polished work on Flowers II and the level of intensity he brought to the stage, Asaad is quickly becoming a must-see for Philly hip-hop fans.
