Army of the Pharaohs, indie rap supergroup featuring underground legends like Vinnie Paz, Apathy and Celph Titled, return from a four-year hiatus with “God Particle,” a lyrical gauntlet stacked with the type of word play that has brought the group critical acclaim in the past as well as an extremely loyal fan base. The screeching string production on the track, which is handled by Stu Bangas, plays like the soundtrack to a horror film, allowing for the wicked rhymes of Vinnie Paz, Planetary, Esoteric, Apathy and Celph Titled to take the main stage.
The Philadelphia crew has been around for over 15 years, spitting battle-hardened rhymes that are remnant of an era when groups with slick flow and lyrical dexterity ruled the hip-hop scene. As they prepare to release their fourth studio LP, aptly titled In Death Reborn, AOTP bring a necessary veteran energy to the raw, skill-driven underground scene. Check out the video for the first single, “God Particle,” below, and head to iTunes to pre-order In Death Reborn, which drops April 22nd.
