Game of Thrones fans, rejoice. It was just announced that the hit book and HBO series will be releasing a mixtape–yes, a mixtape–to accompany its upcoming fourth season and Big Boi has already debuted its first track. Catch the Throne, which will feature the likes of Common and Wale in addition to the Outkast rapper, is an attempt by the executives at HBO to widen the show’s appeal.
If Big‘s “Mother of Dragons” is any indication, Catch the Throne will be like any other collaborative mixtape, save for the fact that all the tracks will relate in some way to the dangerous world captured in the Thrones series. The track’s steady, thumping drums are a powerful backdrop for Big Boi‘s always-on-point lyricism, which finds his knowledge of the show’s character Daenerys Targaryen to be surprisingly sound. Give it a listen below, and look out for Catch the Throne in the coming weeks.
