Shepard Fairey and RISK recently painted two collaborative pieces on the streets in Los Angeles, USA. This marks their third collaborative effort. The piece is full of lyrical references to their favorite musician. RISK and Fairey share a common love for Led Zepplin’s music, RISK wanted to include “Good Times, Bad Times,” a Zepplin quote. Fairey wanted to include a reference to The Clash’s cover of Willie Williams’ “Armagideon Time” by writing “Justice Tonight” (of “A lot of people won’t get no supper tonight, a lot of people won’t get no justice tonight”.) One of the strongest part of the piece is the graffiti-style lettering of their names. RISK painted “OBEY” using his signature bold lettering. Much more than a strong stylistic choice, the adopted tag is symbolic of the strong relationship the two artists have. Over a year ago, RISK and Shepard Fairey produced a piece in Miami (see below). RISK worked on the background, creating a color spectrum. A few days later, Shepard Fairey and his crew painted the details of the piece.
The mural turned out so well that RISK and I decided to collaborate once again and turn the mural concept into a HPM (Hand Painted Multiple) Edition.
