Any day you get to hear Phife Dawg on a track is a good day, and when the track is called “Dear Dilla” it’s a even better day. Phife Dawg pens an open letter to the legendary Detroit producer to pay homage (February 7th was Dilla Day.) It would have been the Donuts mastermind’s 40th birthday this year, and it also marks the eight year anniversary of his death. The track itself is dope, and very personal being that Phife Dawg also deals with health issues himself. The video goes perfectly with the song, showcasing iconic Detroit areas, and even J. Dilla‘s mom. To add another layer of dopeness to the track, all of the proceeds earned from it go straight to Dilla’s daughters. Get into the video below, and, as always, R.I.P. to Dilla.
