Cosmopolitan rapper, singer and producer Theophilus London is back with a heavy, dreamy track from his upcoming EP, Lovers Holiday II, slated to conveniently be released on February 12, two days before Valentines Day. According to Style.com, the instrumental is an “interpretation” of an old, obscure French song that London personally received from Kanye West in a folder full of obscure songs meant to inspire London‘s production. Compared to the original song, London‘s version is much more resonant, ensconcing the listener in a cozy blanket of lingering bass , throaty vocals and guttural synths. This enhanced resonance slightly takes away from the original’s weirdly funky atmosphere, but it’s still a treat nonetheless. Listen to London‘s interpretation as well as the original below.
