19-year-old Compton native Buddy may not be a household name right now, but with friends like Pharrell and Miley Cyrus, you can be pretty sure he will be soon. With his mixtape Idle Time dropping today, Buddy released “Smoke Signals,” what will surely be one of the project’s more high-profile tracks, featuring Ms. Cyrus and produced by Skateboard P. The Pharrell beat is more “Get Lucky” than “Drop It Like It’s Hot,” but Buddy‘s smooth delivery and Miley’s ethereal vocals give it a traditional West Coast hip-hop vibe. Check it out below.
