[The] Internet sensation Tay Walker has released a new video for his song, “Karma.” Shot in black and white, the video emphasizes the utter loneliness felt after a breakup; Tay and his former lover are notably never shown together, indicating the breakup’s finality. Instead, we see them living life apart. Nevertheless, there’s a tinge of hope, as Tay is seen busying himself by tinkering with items in the woods in spite being alone.
The song itself conveys this hope as well, with Tay placing his faith in karma to resolve the breakup properly. It isn’t surprising if you’ve listened to The Internet, but on “Karma,” Tay Walker does a splendid job of exploiting the nuances of the instrument’s various sounds. When he smoothly sings, “I want the chance to be a man/ You have to understand the reason why I had to leave,” his voice beautifully fuses with the keyboard. The fusion is so complete, in fact, that the words are barely discernible; for that brief moment, his voice itself becomes an instrument. Listen below. This song is glorious.
