SaveMoney‘s resident everything man, Donnie Trumpet, has just dropped a crisp video for the thunderous, wobbling “Don’t Leave” from his self-titled EP. Strangely, the two-and-a-half minute video has a pair of intros. The first being a clip of the introductory horn notes from Donnie‘s stellar “Zion” (featuring Chance The Rapper and Vic Mensa), used almost as a DJ tag, to let us know who we’re dealing with. Next is a sort of mini-video for “Pasadena,” featuring some gentle light and a little ballet to deliver a little paradise before the harshness of “Don’t Leave” really sets in. The way the aching, desperate calls of the song play off the alternatively sweet and eerie tones of the visuals make this a unique experience–we bare witness to the romantic connection as the music stays as a tense reminder of the damage to come.
Check out our #innaviews with Donnie and Vic, too.
