It’s been awhile since we’ve heard from Topaz Jones, but he clearly hasn’t been idle. Teaming up with producer Episode, Jones reflects on the allure and dangers of the nearly infinite things money can buy. The track is incredibly emotive, from Jones‘ delivery to Episode‘s dreamy instrumental, which features a sample of Chad Valley‘s powerful song “Fall 4 U.” Hearing songs like this really reminds you how powerful hip-hop is. While hip-hop and pop have the same ability (and tendency) to absorb and reshape any sound no matter the point of origin, hip-hop seems to amplify those sounds, preserving the original sound, yet also progressing it into new realms.
