Up-and-comer Isaiah Rashad has undoubtedly stirred up some pretty lofty expectations in the hip-hop community. As a Top Dawg Entertainment signee, the 22-year-old Tennessee native is already in the company of some of the game’s brightest young stars, a group of certified go-getters who have enjoyed a meteoric rise to prominence over the last few years. If his latest track “RIP Kevin Miller” is any indication, Rashad could be well on his way to finding success similar to that of label mates Kendrick Lamar and ScHoolboy Q.
The track, produced by Black Metaphor, has a laid back, West Coast feel, and employs the type of layered, melodic vocals that the TDE crew has come to use so effectively. Sonically, Rashad‘s voice is probably the closest of the Top Dawg men to sounding like Kendrick himself–which, as you can imagine, is not the worst problem to have. If he can find his niche in the crew and continue to grow as an artist, there’s no reason to believe we won’t be hearing more from Isaiah Rashad in the years to come.
