Busta Rhymes and Azealia Banks have appended some verses to the beginning of Beyonce‘s “Partition.” They do a good job of preserving the sexually charged atmosphere of the original, but it’s hard to listen without wanting more Azealia Banks. The calmness with which she spits her polysyllabic, double-time rhymes melds perfectly with the instrumental’s [initially] simple synths and snaps, and deserves further development, especially since the instrumental dramatically transforms as the song progresses. Beyonce quickly takes the reins following Azealia‘s verse, but for 30 seconds, it truly feels like an Azealia Banks song. And the point here is that it absolutely could be. Listen below.
