Backed by the sharp and showy Social Experiment band, Chance makes his late-night TV debut, and it’s spectacular. “Chain Smoker” wasn’t the hit that “Juice,” or “NaNa,” or “Favorite Song”…or “Smoke Again”…or “Cocoa Butter Kisses” was, but a performance as wild, deeply felt, strange, and dynamic as this one is a quick reminder of how profoundly good a song this is. It’s anthemic, zany, and full of beautiful quotes and moments– a great choice for a large audience, recognizable hits be damned. Enjoy the clip below.
