We already know what Mibbs and Scoop Deville are capable of, but sometimes knowing isn’t enough. Following the success of their FREEBASS EP, the pair has united again for “Off Top.” The stirring song is propelled by meandering hollow, bass and dull tin drums that bounce each other into a resonating frenzy. Forcing himself into this weird and somewhat frantic interplay, Mibbs adopts an interesting flow that’s one part vintage Ice Cube and one part “Two Words.” Each word feels as if it’s being squeezed into a crowded room.
“Off Top” is set to appear on a re-issue of FREEBASS titled FREEBASSkg, which is scheduled for release on January 14 of next year and includes two new songs. Watch the video below.
