Sample master (or monster?) Madlib never sleeps. His latest release is “Hold the Organ,” a song built to rattle a stadium. As the title suggests, the organ plays an important role in the song’s strength, yet the supporting cast is just as instrumental, in both senses of the word. Guitars, bass and live drums propel the song along ,weaving in and out of each other’s paths like occupied worker ants, synchronized and proximate, but not parallel. “Hold the Organ” has a strange rhythm to it – the strikingly clear telephone ring both disrupts the tenuous harmony of the instruments and fits right in: there’s method to this madness. Listen below.
According to Potholes in My Blog, “Hold the Organ” will appear on Madlib‘s upcoming double album, Rock Konducta: Vol. 1-2.
