“Off the Wall” comes courtesy of rapper John Robinson and producer PVD. Featured on their upcoming collaborative album “Modern Vintage,” the song is a boom bap extravaganza without blatant nostalgia. Robinson and PVD are clearly products of the 90s, but they neither wear their allegiances on their sleeves nor totally disavow these allegiances by rejecting their origins: “life mixed with creativity, never simplicity.” This is modern vintage.
