When was the last time you listened to Missy Elliot‘s 2001 hit, “Get Your Freak On“? Yesterday, hopefully. No doubt you thought Timbaland‘s Bhangra inspired beat still sounded just as hot as when it topped the Billboard 100 nearly 12 years ago. Last Thursday, Jelacee (half of the British production duo Stooki Sound) paid #tbt homage to GYFO with a free release of his take on Missy‘s iconic jam. Jelacee‘s “Get Your Freak On” 2.0 remixes the well-known track, covers it with a contemporary trap sound, and layers it up with electronic synthesizers and filters to create a fresh, new 2013 party banger.
