YC The Cynic is back with fresh new visuals for his track “The Heaviest Cross.” This track offer you a straightforward look into his life, but the video takes a different route. YC told Village Voice that the different rooms in the video represent each verse:
” The first verse is about my career. The second verse is about my family. The third verse I guess I’m talking about spiritual beliefs.”
YC shot the simple yet captivating video in South Bronx. The visuals are heavy in symbolism. The MC uses a tilted crown to emphasize his respect for Biggie, but also maybe to announce that he is gunning to reach the great heights Notorious Big reached. When rapping about his family, YC spits in a living room setting composed of a simple couch, a giant teddy bear and a picture of his mother with her children. There’s many more things to decode from the video. Give it a shot. You should go cop GNK on iTunes right now.
If you dig the video you can check out a review of his full project here.(The review has the same author as this post, though it’s on a different website)
