Super producer Thelonious Martin is blessing the masses with a gift on his birthday. “Live From Japan” costs just $1.00 and only graces you for about a minute and a half, but that doesn’t mean that Thelonious isn’t accomplishing a lot here. Half-way reverse sounding drums and airy melody are in pretty odd contrast to the vocal sample at the beginning: “We fuckin’ dominate all this shit.” If by “all this shit” Thelonious means his sect of beat-making, which includes but is not limited to J Dilla-heads, he’s got a solid case. The “what?” vocal sample throughout certainly has a Dilla feel.
