The days of taking a hot song and reclaiming it as your own are far from over. Attempting to reclaim “Bound 2,” the last track of Yeezus, Canadian rapper Shad nearly makes it his own. His voice lacks the bitter resentfulness of Kanye’s, which really invigorates the original track, but Shad still brings the track to life with some introspective reflections on relationships and some humorous asides. It’s different, but still engaging. DJ Skratch Bastid handled the scratches. Listen below.

Yeezus lacked the lyricism I’ve grown to expect from Kanye. Shad’s version gave me the lyricism I was yearning for. Unreal.
While Kanye did a great job, I’m loving Shad’s version because of the
level of intellect and how he structures his lyrics. Having been a Shad
fan for a while, I’ve grown used to his works and so I thought he
upgraded the song. Much love to Skratch Bastid as well.
No disrespect to Kanye, but I think Shad gave it an upgrade
