Tyler, The Creator, decided to give away boxes of clothes to the homeless as his friend recorded him on tape. The artist has been becoming a fashion icon thanks to his signature cat and doughnut logos, so he has a plethora of clothing at his disposal. “I’ll give [boxes of clothing] to some homeless, and watch ’em fight over it,” tells Tyler to the camera as he packs bags of clothing. “That’s fucked up; I’m a piece of shit,” he rectified (thankfully). When the artist arrives at his destination, he comes out of his car to drop off the box exclaiming “It’s a big-ass box of fresh-ass clothes right here if any of you muthafuckas need it!” “You gotta share,” he said. Due to the high demand Tyler returned to his car in order to provide additional containers. As his final words before leaving, he screamed “”I love y’all; God bless America. Don’t do drugs, y’all.”
It is often hard to tell whether celebrities do charity for others or for themselves. The taping of his good deed might not have helped deter those who will insist this case is the latter. At the end of the day, the artist brought smiles to peoples’ faces and offered a large amount of much-needed clothing. The video title, “Free shit 1“, hints at charitable sequels.
