The West Coast’s eccentric double-threat Blu just released this old standalone track featuring Miguel. “Stadium” finds Miguel serving up a tender and thoughtful hook, but it is overshadowed by the lush, layered production. The beautiful swirl of horns and choir voices are kept in line by head-nodding drum kicks and clicks, but even this is overshadowed by John Barnes’ complex and passionate rhyming. The second verse in particular is studded with standout lines like “Children sing along like ‘from the window to the wall’ / but the sweat gets injected in my songs / and the only time I rest is in the seconds when I yawn.” Peep Blu a couple years back spitting nearly the same verse alongside Fashawn, halfway through this video. Whatever the scenario, Blu rocks it, from backstage beatbox cyphers to the “Stadium.”
