Detroit consistently puts out quality music shown first with Motown and later with hip-hop. With artists like Guilty Simpson, Elzhi, Black Milk, Phat Kat and more calling the region home, Detroit could be said to be one of the Meccas of Hip-Hop. Now, a new crop of artists are repping The Motor City hard. Artists like Red Pill, Clear Soul Forces, Jahshua Smith, and this here MC and Production pairing, Nameless (producer) and Nametag (MC) are among the new set. The two have spent years contributing to Detroit classics on projects like Black Milk’s Popular Demand and Broken Wax, and Slum Village’s Dirty District Vol. 1 and Dirty District Vol. 2. Now, they are releasing their forthcoming project For Namesake. The album, which will be released April 16th via Brick Records, is going to be a great effort. Here is one of the first tastes of what we can expect in the form of “Hookless” featuring Mahd.
