This nine-man collective from Brooklyn makes beautiful music that is gloriously difficult to place on the musical map, infusing elements of hip-hop, R&B, funk, soul, rock, jazz, and any other permutation they can manage with the instruments they’re given. They released their debut album Phonyland in January and have kept things relatively quiet since. Nothing Special is the tale of a New York summer told in song, featuring another Brooklyn artist you may recognize, Theophilus London. You can download the EP here. The title may claim that the EP is nothing special, but rest assured, this release is definitely noteworthy.
