Six days ago, Pharrell released a trailer for i am OTHER, his new musical enterprise. At that time, the reasons for this relaunch were unknown. This is no longer the case. Via the i am OTHER youtube channel, Pharrell has released a video attempting to explain the organization.
“Attempting” is an important word to remember when watching the video because in the end, the organization’s purpose is still a little vague. Pharrell seems to have made the change to offer “others” a way to positively express themselves and relate to each other (pun intended). It is still unclear exactly which “others” Pharrell is referring to, but more light will probably be shed as the organization develops. Right now we’ll just have to settle with what we definitely know: i am OTHER is for “thinkers, innovators and outcasts.” If you know what that means, you’re probably an other.
