On November 7, 1991 Earvin “Magic” Johnson made an announcement that shocked and saddened the world. The man who could not be defended on the court told the world that he had tested positive for the HIV virus and would have to retire immediately.
Johnson has now lived with the disease for 20 years, and he has dedicated his life to battling the disease. On March 11, ESPN will broadcast the latest installment in its award-winning series of documentaries, The Announcement.
Make sure to catch the documentary when it airs this Sunday at 9 pm Eastern time on ESPN.
