Late last week, Top Dawg Entertainment, a label with some of the most prominent spitters on the west coast including Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q, Ab Soul and Jay Rock, dried the ink on a new deal with Interscope/Aftermath Records. Afterwards TDE’s CEO, Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, took to his Twitter to relay the news. TDE seems to be one of the fastest rising west coast independent rap labels since Death Row. This is great news to those Kendrick Lamar fans waiting for him to spring into super-stardom. It’s also great news because according to Tiffith’s Twitter, TDE has full creative control over the careers of its artists. This move can definitely assist with the west coast’s resurgence on the hip-hop charts. With a machine like Interscope behind TDE, 2012 could be a great year for the genre.
