Say what you will about Mac Miller, but it’s clear that the dude is gonna keep doing his thing. His fan base’s loyalty matches that of a Wiz Khalifa (Pittsburgh residents do seem to support their own) or, say, a Joe Budden. His debut album Blue Slide Park released yesterday with reviews just beginning to materialize across the Web. The last track on the album is a standout. “One Last Thing” features A$AP Rocky’s producer-extraordinaire Clams Casino (who produced two tracks on the album). Man, this guy Clams is intriguing. His beats seem foreign yet familiar to today’s hip-hop landscape. The production on “One Last Thing” is entrancing. It makes you wonder how Clams produces these slow, drawling sounds that purvey, somehow, both anguish and comfort. Mac, building on his verse as the beat rhythmically progresses, provides a nice outro that declares despite the fame and fortune, he just “want(s) to go back home.”
