Torae, the BK born emcee of Duck Down Records (á la Pharoahe Monch and Smif-n-Wessun, with Sean P aka Kimbo Price aka Jesus Price Superstar aka P Body aka Donkey Sean Jr. along with many others) drops a Pete Rock infused jam that would catch the ear of any native New Yorker and make em say “Damn kid, this is the ish we been missin!”. If you haven’t heard of Torae before, he’s earning an extensive list of cosigns from rappers and producers alike, including Premo, Black Milk, 9th Wonder. Some of his recent projects have involved Sean P and Skyzoo, also Brooklyn born don’s whose influences are apparent in Torae’s growth, mirroring the latter’s rugged, Brownsville-clad exclamations and the formers long running, intertwining rhyme schemes. Peep Torae’s lyrical aptitude as evident in the way in which he bodies the first few bars, doing the songs title proper justice:
“It’s called spittin, some say I’m type nice wit the written; written im nice wit a ice pick thru ya pennin/ the chimes chime in as a slice and write venom, wit chocolate boy wonda ammunition/ ya randomly wishin’, ya compositions, come to fruition, pullin’ Ethan Hunt stunts, them impossible missions”.
