Not sure how we missed this series of portraits of 14 hip-hop legends and legends-in-waiting from British illustrator Dale Edwin Murray last Friday, but that’s what Mondays are for! Murray definitely has a distinctive style, but he also has a good feel for capturing each artist’s defining characteristics, which makes the guessing game with these a little too easy. We’ve selected a few of our favorites here, but which do you guys like the best?
Picking just 14 artists to feature must have been a really difficult process, but Murray did a good job picking 14 with a distinctive aesthetic.
Murray’s MF Doom is conceivably even more frightening than the live-action version.
Would we have preferred Watch the Throne-era Kanye to 8o8s and Heartbreak-era Kanye? No comment.
