In 1782, a young musician by the name of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart wrote a canon in B-flat major called “Leck mich im Arsch,” which translates to “Lick me in the ass.” “Thought to be a party piece for his friends,” the song went relatively unpraised until recently, when a certain Jack White dug it out of obscurity, sampling it for a record with… the Insane Clown Posse. The result is a modern day twist on Mozart’s facetious indulgence, a postmodern mush of high and low, and it sounds, actually, kinda hot. Violent J explains how the track came together in today’s Detroit News:
When they were finished recording, White played them some of the material he’d been working on, including songs with Tom Jones and Detroit rapper Black Milk. J returned the favor by playing White some of “The Mighty Death Pop,” “but he just did not seem interested,” J says. “He was real nice about it, super cool, but it was kind of like look-at-your-watch, let’s go.”
Read the whole piece. I’m not sure if ICP entirely understands the one-sided nature of irony.
