With all the fanfare behind the “Otis” video and the release of Watch the Throne, the long-awaited video for Common and Nas‘ “Ghetto Dreams” flew waaaaay under the radar. That’s not surprising, though: while Jay-Z and Kanye spend millions of dollars on a video that only has two shots in it, “Ghetto Dreams” takes a legitimately minimalist approach. One part beautiful woman (in this case Bria Myles), plus two parts rap legends, confident enough in their verses that pageantry is unnecessary, and you’ve got a video. Big ups to director Matt Alonzo for getting the concept of the video just right, although I’ll say right now what everyone should probably be thinking: that look between Common and Nas at the end is pretty suspect.
