Just a few hours after Royce Da 5’9″ released a tragically Eminem-less video for his single “Writer’s Block”. The pleas for more of a legitimate video collaboration between the two were promptly answered, though, with the video for the Bruno Mars-toting “Lighters” showcases both of the Bad Meets Evil artists. This video has that Marshall Mathers feel, with a melancholy-looking Em stomping around through bleak hallways while Royce spits his bars from behind bars. My feelings towards Bruno Mars err on the side of Tyler, the Creator‘s so I could probably live without this song quite comfortably, but the video has its moments (once the two rappers come above ground however, it just gets way too soft. Somebody call Ghostface to talk to those two). In the context of today’s Bad Meets Evil material, what we’re looking at is a better video for a worse song.
