The Center for the Arts Eagle Rock in Eagle Rock, Los Angeles recently announced “The Mapping of Countries Yet to Come,” a project inspired by images and sounds of northeast Los Angeles. Flying Lotus, the experimental hip-hop producer celebrated by Pitchfork and The New Yorker alike, will combine his talents with Miwa Matreyek, the experimental animation (performance) artist featured at the TEDGlobal 2010 conference, to sample media from the local community in an effort to celebrate northeast Los Angeles’s own artistic wealth.
The project, “The Mapping of Countries Yet to Come,” will premiere in June 2012.
