Curren$y’s Weekend at Burnie’s, which dropped online and in stores yesterday, brings Spitta’s normal flow to the forefront on another impressive piece of art. His collaboration with Fiend, Trademark Da Skydiver and Young Roddy creates an interesting mix of vocals over the album’s beats. The 12-track album doesn’t disappoint in many ways, but on some beats Curren$y brings more heat.
With the hope of piquing your interest, here are my top 4 tracks off the album:
#JetsGo: On the first track Curren$y hits on the usual topics: weed, cars and living the life, doing so over a chill beat.
You See It: Curren$y lets the world know that he’s shining bright, bright enough for everyone to see.
This Is The Life: My favorite track on the album. Here Spitta found a beat that you can’t resist and totally kills it. Chilling poolside and rooftop sounds pretty good to me too.
On G’s: Trademark and Young Roddy come back in again, and provide some much needed variety. The trio perform much better in this case, especially Young Roddy who sets it off with the second verse.
Curren$y’s bars overshadow the beats that at times could have been better, but Weekend at Burnie’s is classic Hot Spitta. Now the only thing left to do is check out the rest of the album.
