raised in houston, kenneth cappello’s upbringing on skateboarding and punk rock is reflected in the energy of his photos. a former assistant to david lachappelle, his photography career began in 2001. since then, kenneth’s work has been featured in such magazines as iD, men’s vogue, vanity fair, dazed & confused, GQ, flair and mixte. he has photographed music covers featuring p diddy, eve, alicia keys, lil wayne, ice cube, T.I., the white stripes, usher, fall out boy, mary j blige and franz ferdinand and captured celebrities ewan mcgregor, seth rogen, mischa barton, heidi klum, emile hirsch, chloe sevigny, jonathan rhys meyers, zooey deschanel, amber heard, amongst others. his advertising clients include nike, stussy, adidas, supreme, uniqlo, puma, quiksilver, martine sitbon, diane von furstenberg, urban outfitters, WE, rocketdog, sony bmg, island def jam and j records. in 2004 he released his first book, loveless in collaboration with surface to air paris. in 2006 kenneth made his directorial debut with the kills ‘no wow’ video and ‘joga NY’ for nike soccer. in 2008, he received great acclaim for the ‘hair hats’ exhibit with late japanese artist nagi noda. his book Acid Drop, in collaboration with tim barber of tiny vices, was released by aperature in fall 2008. his work will also be featured in an upcoming book published by rizolli and scheduled for release in early 2009. currently represented as a director by HSI, kenneth splits his time between new york and los angeles, trains in ju-jitsu and enjoys spending time with his chihuahua, ciccolina.
