“Creating art is my passion. The primary medium for my work is LEGO® plastic bricks, something familiar to many of us from childhood yet which I have found has infinite artistic possibilities as well. In my current work, which is the focus of my new exhibition, I confound many of the expectations people may have when they consider my medium, exploring a sense of being trapped, haunted by the human spirit in my art yet constantly faced with the commercialism of the medium I have chosen to work in. The idea is to present something that makes people take a step back, perhaps even something that is quite scary, yet to do so in a way that captivates and intrigues. I find the balance there through the exercise of my own sensitivity, which I infuse into my sculptures, and which continues to have enduring importance in my method and results. The work I am presenting now reflects the truth about myself, on a number of levels, and as such the show is truly different to anything seen before. It’s complex, thought-provoking, and unforgettable.”
