After establishing himself as one of Canada’s most celebrated beatboxers, Balu has recently undergone a creative shift after tapping into the power of Toronto culture through an eclectic blend of danceable R&B. “I found that R&B was my genre, because I felt like it was the only genre where I could be completely honest with myself,” says the Eglinton West resident. His new single “Voices In My Head” is bouncy, euphoric yet introspective: a killer combination.
The song structure is contemporary dance but the instrumentals are far from your typical dance song, courtesy of Canadian producer Ashley Scott. Even his track “Missing In Action” which dropped three months ago is worth a listen as it further solidifies Balu’s signature sonic space: International R&B that eclipses category. Speaking of placements, Balu’s “Voices In My Head” was also recently featured on the ‘EXPLORE Canada‘ playlist on Spotify. Take it in below.
