Michael Vick is ruffling feathers over his latest comment towards fellow NFL Quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
On Monday (Jul 17), during an interview on the sports show “Speak for Yourself,” Vick was asked his opinion on what he felt former San Francisco ’49ers Quarterback Colin Kaepernick should do in regards to getting signed by a team. Vick’s response, “cut his afro.”
“First thing we need to get Colin to do is to cut his hair, I mean I am not being politically correct, but the cornrows nah. I mean he really needs to be more clean cut, I mean I get the social media and what he’s trying to do-we get it but now it’s time to clean up his image.”
In the on air interview, Vick says that his advice comes being a reformed “bad boy,” but insists that his advice is to help Kaepernick win in the NFL.
“Colin is a great kid and I am just going off of my experience because when I wore the gold chains and cornrows I was viewed as this bad boy but the hairstyles and stuff didn’t represent me.”
Since the interview aired, Kaepernick has taken to Instagram to respond to Vick, with a post giving the definition of “Stockholm’s Syndrome.”
Fans of both Vick and Kaepernick have taken to Twitter to express their disappointment in Vick’s comments towards Kaepernick pointing out that his clean cut line isn’t helping white fans of the NFL forget his conviction.

Despite his reasoning, Vick and his colleague before him Ray Lewis both seem to forget that while they were forced to clean up their image due to convictions and arrests, Colin is taking a stance. Whether he is drafted to a team or not, Kaepernick will always be the better man for sacrificing for his beliefs to help others everywhere.
