After being on a hiatus for nearly two decades, A Tribe Called Quest has returned with a new album and today, they share a new video for “We The People….”
The song is filled with substance that today’s hip-hop scene has been missing. This new track takes you back to the roots of hip-hop when artists used music as a platform to expose real issues. Since the video is just nothing more than red, white and green graffiti drawings and lyrics, the listeners can really pay attention to their extreme lyricism. It speaks on racial issues, government issues the lack of awareness, and media influences.
For all the millennials in the hip-hop industry, A Tribe Called Quest is back and they are waking us up with their music. Their recently released 16-track album The new album We got it from Here… Thank You 4 Your service will give you an clear indication of what hip-hop used to sound like. The album has guest appearances from Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, Elton John, André 3000, Consequence, Busta Rhymes, and more.
Today you can catch a performance from A Tribe Called Quest on “Saturday Night Live” hosted by Dave Chappelle will host the show, which is the first since the U.S. presidential election. Watch A Tribe Called Quest’s video here.
