October 1st thru the 2nd, New York was the setting of an amazing music festival titled The Meadows Art & Music Festival. Huge performers were present such as Chance the Rapper, J. Cole, Kygo, and many more. With Kanye West headlining the entire festival, fans paid $260 to see their favorite performers take the stage.
My personal favorite performance was J. Cole. Everyone was excited to see other performers, however we were all waiting to see Cole. He opened with “A Tale of Two Cities,” which got the entire crowd pumped up for the songs to come later. After words, he played more songs from his latest album 2014 Forest Hills Drive such as “G.O.M.D.,” “Wet Dreamz,” and “Love Yourz.” At the end, of the performance, J. Cole asked for the audience to come together. We all put our arms around each other shoulders and swayed as Cole was telling us to love one another. J. Cole had some unfortunate news for fans stating that The Meadows was going to be his last show for a very long time. Can we be anticipating another album from the leader of Dreamville? Being the J. Cole fan I am, I would love to hear the next installment.
Another undeniable great performance was from Chance the Rapper. He reached out to his Day 1 fans by playing songs from his well known mixtape Acid Rap and performed multiple songs from Coloring Book. The best part of his performance is towards the end when he brought a guest to the stage. After a quick twirl from Chance, confetti shot out from the stage and flooded the audience with bright colors.
The grand finale was none other than Kanye West. After being a half an hour late to his performance, West put on a show for the patiently waiting crowd. Coming out with “Father Stretch My Hands Part 1”, Kanye West was under a multitude of red lights and smoke. Unfortunately, he was not able to perform his full routine due to Kim Kardashian being robbed at gunpoint in Paris.
Overall, the Meadows Music Festival was a great experience for all types of music lovers. Weather you like rock, R&B, or Hip Hop, everyone loved the performances presented.
