Every week, we at RESPECT. Mag host a segment titled With All Due RESPECT., in which we highlight five “slept on” tracks that have been banging through our iPhone speakers. In doing so, we challenged our selves to step outside our comfort zones and find diamonds in the rough. It’s a good thing, because shining real bright right in the trenches was a swanked out So Cal native named Rossi and one of the most underrated projects of the year in his 2016 effort Agassi. Hailing from the unsung masterpiece, the lyrical craftsman decided to premiere a visual for the standout cut, “Rottweiler” which features Rossi and co. riding ’round downtown San Diego in a mayonnaise colored Jeep. Not quite the Miracle Whip that Kanye was obsessing over, but hey, give it some time.
The 10-track-project is one of the best underground projects to be released in 2016. Boasting only two features from Bay Area songstress Elieezus and harlemite Bodega Bamz, Agassi has exhibits an introspective and humble vibe. Tracks like “2002” and “When I’m Not Home” catch Rossi in a more emotional and sobering state, while the Bamz assisted, “Suav City PT. II” and “That’s My Lady” serve as two of the albums certified bangers. “Rottweiler” serves as the perfect appetizer visual for the album. “The colors that Rottweiler was using at the time helped me come up with the look of the visual,” the TanBoy affiliate said to RESPECT. through email, “We winged it most of the time, but it was fun.” “I have a couple more videos still in the process. I would like to shoot videos for all 10 tracks if possible.” said Rossi who also spoke on the TanBoys/Bodega Bamz connection. On that, the San Diego rep said; “I’m a Tanboy. I met Bamz about a year or two ago. I’ve been a fan since 2012 so it’s surreal that we have music together. Those are my tan brothers.”
Check out the premiere of the smooth, “suav” visual for “Rottweiler” above, and be sure to stream Agassi below. Also available through all online retailers now.
